Peak power
The highest short-duration motor output a manufacturer reports, usually in watts. It is not the same as sustained power, assistance felt at the joint, battery consumption, or real-world performance.
Why this term matters
Peak wattage is easy to market and difficult to compare unless test conditions and control behavior match. ExoRank attributes it to the manufacturer and does not treat the largest number as an automatic winner.
How to evaluate it in a product claim
- Verify whether the figure covers one actuator or the complete system.
- Look for the duration and test conditions behind the peak.
- Keep peak power separate from continuous output and battery capacity.
- Compare assisted movement, control timing and fit before drawing a performance conclusion.
What it should not be confused with
Peak power is not sustained output, joint torque, battery energy or a measure of how much effort a wearer saves. Watts alone cannot establish real-world assistance.
